The NATO Model Event, conducted by NATO’s Allied Command Transformation (ACT), is an immersive simulation hosted at Hertie School’s Centre for International Security. During this event, selected students from the Master of International Affairs' International Security track role-play as Permanent Representatives of NATO member states and engage in a simulated North Atlantic Council session. Guided by representatives from Allied Command Transformation, students discuss and negotiate on critical security issues facing NATO, ranging from regional challenges to the organisation's global posture.

This initiative not only offers a unique insight into the inner workings of NATO but also serves as a platform for aspiring diplomats to hone their skills. Participants get an opportunity to:

  • engage in real-world diplomacy,
  • build consensus among varying perspectives,
  • receive actionable feedback and career guidance from NATO experts.

The event is part of a collaboration between the Centre for International Security’s mentoring program and Allied Command Transformation’s Academic Outreach program, aimed at fostering dialogue and understanding between NATO and the leaders of tomorrow.

The next NATO Model Event will take place on April 20th, 2024.
