Call for Papers: Nuclear Security Workshop

We invite submissions for the Nuclear Security Workshop at the Centre for International Security taking place from July 15 - 16, 2024.

The Centre for International Security at the Hertie School will host its third nuclear security workshop on July 15-16, 2024. The workshop aims to facilitate exchange among a new generation of researchers from Europe and elsewhere who are studying nuclear security policy.

We are calling for submissions that explore the broad spectrum of nuclear security, with a particular focus on these areas:

  • European nuclear strategy and doctrine in an age of great power competition;
  • European societal interests and needs for extended deterrence and assurance;
  • or managing assurance and extended deterrence in NATO in the post-2022 nuclear environment.

Please provide an abstract of about 300 words via the online portal Interfolio by April 21, 2024. Please kindly note that we are soliciting applications from PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and professors only. If you require further information, please feel free to contact us at any point. We will decide on the workshop program and the participants by the beginning of May.

The workshop sessions will take place at the Hertie School on July 15 and July 16, 2024. We will start with an optional dinner on July 14 for those arriving early. We are able to cover your travel expenses (economy fare) and accommodation costs (two nights for European and three nights for overseas participants), and are happy to assist you with the booking.

This event is made possible through a generous endowment from the Stanton Foundation.
