Film discussion: Shadow Game

This discussion was hosted by Hertie School's Centre for Fundamental Rights in collaboration with the Berlin Human Rights Film Festival and in association with Cinema Politica Berlin following the screening prize-winning documentary “Shadow Game”.

Panel members Dr. Grażyna Baranowska (Hertie School), Dr. Natalie Welfens (Hertie School) and Hanaa Hakiki (European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights) discussed contemporary border and mobility regime documented in the film "Shadow Game", explaining the pushback practices at European borders and their impact on human rights of migrants; the EU’s migration and border policies, which force people on the move to take dangerous routes to and through Europe, and the stereotypes shaping the public discourse on people at the border. The event was chaired by Prof. Ashwini Vasanthakumar (Queen’s Law School).
