Vincent Ramos is a PhD candidate at the Research Training Group "The Dynamics of Demography, Democratic Processes and Public Policy." His dissertation project revolves around informal and non-standard employment during periods of crisis as both an outcome of economic uncertainty and a determinant of future family formation (particularly fertility) and labour market outcomes. Vincent holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman (cum laude) and has worked as an economist for the Philippines' antitrust agency for two years. He obtained his Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School under the DAAD Helmut Schmidt Programme for Good Governance. His master's thesis analyses whether labour market formalisation addresses the unemployment problem in developing economies and whether this nexus exhibits non-linearities. In collaboration with Philippines-based academics, he has also written on the topics of informal employment, higher education and intellectual property.
