Anina Harter is a PhD candidate at the Hertie School. Her doctoral research focuses on empirical political economy. Using large-scale survey data, she investigates the formation of individual preferences regarding health policies and forms of government. Lately, she has been applying natural language processing techniques to legal texts to uncover political motives in public spending. Anina has previously worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the ifo Institute. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from University College London and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Heidelberg University.
