Keegan McBride questions Estonia's digitalisation success story

The country's much admired e-government initiatives have shortcomings, our Postdoctoral Researcher tells Tagesspiegel.

Estonia has a reputation for leadership in digital governance, much respected by other governments. And yet, Estonia struggled with enabling digital-first pandemic solutions, such as developing a track and trace app, writes Tagesspiegel's Background newsletter.

As part of the article, Centre for Digital Governance Postdoctoral Researcher Keegan McBride shared his expertise on Estonia's digitalisation efforts.

"Marketing is a big part of Estonia's digital strategy," McBride told the newspaper, though he conceded that at the same time "a lot of things do work well."
