Founding Dean Michael Zürn receives Berlin Science Award 2021

Berlin Senate awards political scientist for his research on international relations and the development of Berlin as science hub.

Prof. Dr. Michael Zürn, Director of the Global Governance Department at Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin and Founding Dean of the Hertie School has received the Berlin Science Award 2021.

The Berlin Senate defined Zürn as a "bridge builder" and honoured the political scientist for his impact on shaping Berlin as a science destination in a ceremony last week. Building a public policy school in Berlin and leading the Hertie School between 2004 and 2009 is part of this contribution.

Berlin’s Mayor and Senator of Science Michael Müller appreciated Zürn as “committed and full of ideas”. The award is endowed with 40,000 euros, which Zürn can now use for research purposes.
