In an op-ed in Handelsblatt, Hertie School researchers say initiatives up to now have not been enough.

In a recent study, the researchers conducted interviews with young GovTech entrepreneurs. They found that, while policy-makers and public administration have launched initiatives like idea competitions and summits to support budding companies, these measures have so far been inadequate. The authors argue that decision-makers need to go back to the roots of GovTech and focus on supporting and building relationships with small-scale operations. Otherwise, young entrepreneurs could turn to the private sector or go abroad, leaving their potential for a digitalising public administration untapped.
