Hertie School’s ERCAS named ‘knowledge partner’ for 2018 OECD anti-corruption and integrity forum

ERCAS director Alina Mungiu-Pippidi to present book on good governance.

The European Research Centre for Anti-Corruption and State-Building (ERCAS) once again joins other prominent organisations as a “knowledge partner” for the OECD Global Anti-Corruption & Integrity Forum, held on 27-28 March in Paris. Other knowledge partners include Transparency International EU, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Alliance for Integrity, among others.

The high-level forum of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development annually draws nearly 1500 participants, serving as the premier public event on integrity and anti-corruption worldwide. This year’s motto is “Planet Integrity: Building a Fairer Society”.

As a knowledge partner, ERCAS consults the OECD on the conception of the annual forum, a role which it first assumed in 2017, though it has participated in the forum for several years. Additionally, ERCAS director Alina Mungiu-Pippidi, Professor of Democracy Studies, will present her book “Transitions to Good Governance: Creating Virtuous Circles of Anti-corruption”.

ERCAS was established at the Hertie School in 2012. Mungiu-Pippidi leads the centre, which examines state-building and anti-corruption from a state-society perspective, focusing on the interplay of formal and informal institutions, governance regimes, norm transitions and the role of ethics in these spheres.
