Anne-K. Speck is a final year PhD candidate within the Human Rights Centre at Ghent University. Anne holds an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from Essex University and a B.A. in International Relations from Technische Universität Dresden. They are a ‘pracademic’, having moved between the worlds of academia, civil society, and international organisations. They previously worked as a Research Associate at Middlesex University, London, and within the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), for which they have since acted as an expert consultant on several occasions. Anne also serves on the Board of the European Implementation Network (EIN), a Strasbourg-based NGO that they co-directed before returning to academia. Anne’s doctoral research focuses on the evidence regime developed by the European Court of Human Rights. It forms part of the larger ERC-funded project ‘DISSECT: Evidence in International Human Rights Adjudication’.
