Nicola Sharman is a PhD researcher at the University of Eastern Finland’s Centre for Climate Change, Energy and Environmental Law. Her research focuses on the right to participation of those most affected by the impacts of climate change within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. This work forms part of the 2035Legitimacy project, an interdisciplinary project which aims to assess the legitimacy of climate policy in Finland. Nicola holds a master’s degree in Global Environmental Law and Governance from the University of Strathclyde, her thesis for which examined climate technology transfer obligations under international law. She also acted as a research assistant for the Strathclyde Centre for Environmental Law and Governance, and worked for several years in Scotland as a solicitor in the field of property rights.
