Fekade Alemayhu Abebe is a PhD candidate in international law at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies. He is a lawyer by training after completing his LL.B at Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia in 2008. He has an LL.M in Public International Law from Addis Ababa University (2011) and an LL.M in international humanitarian law and human rights from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights (2019). Fekade worked as a lecturer-in-law at Mizan-Tepi University and Hawassa University, both in Ethiopia, between 2011 and 2018. He also served in various academic positions in these law schools. Fekade’s research focuses on the interaction of international migration law, law of the sea and human rights law concerning the protection of missing migrants.
