Hertie School launches Local Alumni Group in Amsterdam

The group is the first Dutch member of the university’s alumni network.

On February 8, the Hertie School launched the Amsterdam Alumni Local Group, the first in the Netherlands. Nearly 15 alumni based in Amsterdam, Utrecht and The Hague joined us for an evening of lively conversations and celebration of the Hertie community spirit. Dr Axel Baisch, Managing Director of the Hertie School, reflected on current developments at the school and discussed exciting plans for the future with alumni. Nena Grceva, Director of Alumni Affairs, highlighted ways alumni can meaningfully engage with the school, share their experience with students, and get support for their professional growth.

The launch also gave the alumni the chance to reminisce about their time at Hertie. In particular, they remembered the sense of camaraderie and support they felt here, saying that the community was “nurturing” and that they felt like they were in “warm water”.

We warmly welcome Ruben van Zoest (Master of Public Policy 2018) as a local contact for Amsterdam. Van Zoest joins other dedicated alumni from around the world who generously support the school with their time and talent and keep our global alumni network thriving.
