Hertie School celebrates 20th anniversary in São Paulo with launch of Local Alumni Group

The new group is the first Brazilian member of the university’s alumni network.

On 5 February, the Hertie School marked another milestone in the expansion of its global alumni network by inaugurating the São Paulo Local Alumni Group – the school's first official alumni network member in Brazil. The launch event was hosted at the Goethe Institute in São Paulo and was a new highlight amidst the global festivities celebrating the school's 20th anniversary.

To mark the occasion, Prof. Kai Wegrich, Dean of Research and Faculty and Professor of Public Policy, shared the latest updates from the school and delivered a talk on “The past, present and future of evidence-based policy”. He was joined by Mariana Florio from our Student Recruitment team, who discussed current recruitment trends and outlined plans to expand the Hertie School’s recruitment efforts in Brazil. The audience comprised Hertie School alumni, exchange and prospective students, and representatives from the school’s partner institutions in Brazil, including Republica.org, Vetor Brasil and the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV).

We are happy to welcome Bruno Paschoal (Master of Public Policy 2015) as the Local Connector for the São Paulo Local Group. Bruno joins our global community of alumni volunteers, which currently boasts 30 Chapter Leads and four Local Connectors, enriching our network and fostering stronger connections within our alumni community.
