The prestigious Hertie School Alumni Achievement Award, an accolade recognising outstanding contributions to public policy, public management, or social entrepreneurship, is once again open for nominations for the year 2024. The award, presented annually at the Hertie School Alumni Reunion, aims to honor alumni who have demonstrated innovative commitment to good governance and made significant strides in their respective fields.
The Alumni Achievement Award has a rich history of recognising exemplary individuals, with previous winners including trailblazers like Joseph Amayga, Anne-Marie Kortas, Camilo Sánchez Meertens, Monica Wills Silva, Besa Shahini, Damian Boeselager, Alexander Busold, Laura Franken, Jeff Kwasi Klein, and Alejandra Lead Vallejo. Joseph Amayga, Class of 2011, was honored for his exceptional efforts in economic development and public health in Sierra Leone, while Anne-Marie Kortas, Class of 2014, invested considerable energy into the resettlement and integration of Syrian refugees in German society. Camilo Sánchez Meertens, from the Class of 2014, played a crucial role in developing and implementing healthcare strategies integral to the Colombian peace process. The list goes on, showcasing the diverse and impactful work of Hertie School alumni.
Nominations for the 2024 Alumni Achievement Award are now open, providing an opportunity to recognise those who have excelled in the preceding year. Alumni, Hertie School faculty or administration members, and employers are invited to nominate deserving candidates by completing the nomination form available here.
The deadline for nominations is January 15, 2024.
The selection process involves a thorough review by the Alumni Council in Spring of 2024. The recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award will be celebrated at the annual Alumni Reunion, where the nominator will also be invited to highlight the awardee's achievements.
