- Assistant Professor of Sustainability
The Hertie School is recruiting a tenure-track Assistant Professor working on key sustainability topics such as climate, energy, air pollution, transport and land-use. We particularly welcome scholars whose research covers regions beyond Germany and Europe. The candidate should combine state-of-the-art empirical, policy-relevant research with a teaching profile that matches the needs of a public policy school.
Applicants for this position must have a doctoral degree relevant for the position or expect to have this degree by the start of employment. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in economics. The successful candidate will be appointed as Assistant Professor with a six-year clock (two three-year contracts) with the possibility of tenure.
The expected start date is 01 August 2022.

- Postdoctoral Researcher - Climate Policy
We seek to fill the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher - Climate Policy (f/m/div) on a full-time (40 hours/week) basis, subject to an initial time limitation of two years. Applicants for this position should have a doctoral degree in economics, political science or another relevant field. Their research agenda should be centered around climate or energy and they should demonstrate interest in policy-relevant research and interaction with policy practitioners. Strong background in empirical methods and causal inference in econometrics is required.
The contract shall commence as of 01 January 2022.
