Hertie School and partners launch economics postdoc programme

Hertie School’s Kerstin Bernoth and Christian Traxler will lead the programme funded by the Leibniz Association.

The new postdoc programme Berlin Economics Research Associates (BERA) aims to provide postdoctoral researchers with a world class research environment and prepare them for their future careers. Additionally, BERA will establish a network among the involved institutions in order to maximise the attractiveness for international scholars. Participants will be offered courses, training, research trips and mentoring, among others.

For the start BERA will support 60 to 80 postdocs, financed by the Leibniz Association, a union of German research institutes. At the Hertie School Kerstin Bernoth and Christian Traxler, both professors for economics, will lead BERA. "We hope to attract the best postdocs from around the world to come to Berlin", said Kerstin Bernoth of the programme’s ambitions.

In addition to the Hertie School the programme partners are the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), the Free University of Berlin, the European School for Management and Technology (ESMT), the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Technical University of Berlin and the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB).
