Frank-J. Weise, Head of the Federal Employment Agency, new Chairman of the Hertie School Supervisory Board – McKinsey’s Frank Mattern chairs Board of Trustees

Berlin, 3 April 2014 – Frank-J. Weise, Chairman of the Managing Board of the Federal Employment Agency, will be the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Hertie School. Frank Mattern, director of the management consulting firm McKinsey & Company, will be Weise’s successor as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Berlin-based university. The reason for the change at the head of the boards is Weise’s appointment as Chairman of the Managing Board of the Hertie Foundation. The Foundation is the founder and shareholder of the Hertie School, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.

Frank-J. Weise: “With the establishment of a private university in Germany, the Hertie Foundation broke new ground in 2003/2004. Today, the Hertie School is one of our most successful projects: It is very well-positioned in the market, not only due to its solid business model. The Hertie School also made its contribution towards a modernization of the debate on governance in practice, teaching and research. This is what we as a reform body are aiming to achieve. The Hertie Foundation will continue to support the Hertie School as its main partner.”

“The Hertie School has established its place among the globally leading Public Policy Schools. With its international, interdisciplinary and very practice-oriented study programme, it attracts students from all over Germany and nearly 40 other countries. The Hertie School’s graduates are successful in the job market, in the public as well as private sector and in NGOs. We plan to continue this successful development“, says Frank Mattern, previously deputy Chairman of the Hertie School’s Board of Trustees.
