Economics professor is appointed to advise on research programme focusing on security in society.

Hertie School Professor of Economics Christian Traxler has been appointed to the academic advisory committee (WBK) of the Expert Group on Security Research (SiFo), a research programme of the German Ministry for Education and Research.

SiFo (Fachdialog Sicherheitsforschung) focuses on security in society, and is located at the Scientific Centre for Security and Society (CSS) in Freiburg.  It was founded in 2007 by the German government, with the aim of building a network of researchers from the social sciences and humanities in the area of civil security. The idea is to foster an interdisciplinary and public dialogue on challenges and innovations in civil security, and to integrate international research being carried out in this area.
