Berlin as a human rights classroom

Human Rights Watch (HRW) is an international human rights organisation that investigates and reports on abuses happening in all corners of the world. Their advocacy is directed towards governments, armed groups and businesses, pushing them to change or enforce their laws, policies and practices. They have country experts, lawyers, journalists, and others who work to protect the most at risk - from vulnerable minorities and civilians in wartime, to refugees and children in need.

The visit to the Berlin office of HRW that will take place on 5 May 2023 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm CEST, will provide an opportunity to closely observe the functioning of the organisation and engage in a discussion with HRW employees working in the fields of advocacy, communications and research.

Participation is opened to students of the Human Rights and Global Governance stream at the Hertie School as well as to Hertie School’s students with a strong interest in human rights. Registered participants will receive preparation reading in advance.

Number of participants is limited. To register for the visit, please send an email with your full name to fundamentalrights[at]hertie-school[dot]org. Registration will close on 23 April 2023. Slots will be provided on a first come first served basis.
