Seminar in global ethics: Navigating the socio-economic impact of global crises - Insights from G7 and G20

Featuring Patricia Heimann of the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, this event is part of a series in global ethics chaired by Professor Richard Bellamyin cooperation with the Centre of Fundamental Rights.

Behind the scenes of the G7 and G20 summits, civil servants and policy experts engage in rigorous negotiations which lay the groundwork for the high level declarations that shape our global political landscape. In the course of these debates, they develop strategies for dealing with the world's most pressing socio-economic issues, including how to best prepare for the changing world of work in times of crises, how to tackle growing inequalities and how to safeguard the health and safety of workers around the world.

Among other things, this policy work also addresses emerging structural challenges in relation to an array of important topics such as digitalisation and AI, the pressures of demographic change and human rights in global supply chains, proposing ways of dealing with each issue in a fair and just way.

Join us for this seminar with Patricia Heimann, Head of the Division "International Employment and Social Policy Twinning" at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, to understand the policy work at the G7 and G20 summits and how it contributes to the management of the socio-economic impact of global crises.
