"Homeboys" is a HIP-HOP feature documentary that follows Samuel and Isaac, South Sudanese teenagers who grew up in Israel as asylum seekers and were deported in 2012. Now, they live as refugees in a boarding school after being rescued from the civil war in South Sudan. They dream of making the world aware of their exceptional musical talent. Amir, an accomplished Israeli musician, arrives at their boarding school to work with them. The film follows the big dreams of Samuel and Isaac within the complex reality of their lives.
"Homeboys," is Tamar Goren's debut feature documentary. The film premiered at the Jerusalem Film Festival. Additionally, the film has been screened at the Busan Youth Film Festival, FIFA Montreal, Washington DC Jewish Film Festival, and more.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with Tamar Goren (Film Director), Amir Sade (Co-Producer) and Grażyna Baranowska, (MSC Fellow and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Fundamental Rights).
This event is hosted by the Centre for Fundamental Rights in collaboration with the Human Rights Film Festival.
