Following the screening, we will engage in a discussion on reproductive rights and access to abortion with Lisa Reinsberg (Centre for Fundamental Rights). This event is organised by Cinema Politica Berlin in collaboration with the Student Advisory Board for the Centre for Fundamental Rights.
The award-winning documentary movie Vessel documents the work of Dr. Rebecca Gomperts, a physician from the Netherlands who founded the organisation ‘Women on Waves’ with a goal to provide medical abortions in international waters to women from countries where these procedures was illegal.
Vessel premiered at SXSW Film Festival in 2014, winning the Audience Award for Documentary in Competition and a Special Jury Award for Political Courage.
The screening will be followed by a discussion on reproductive rights and access to abortion across the world with Lisa Reinsberg, Founder and Executive Director of the International Justice Resource Center and a Visiting Fellow at the Centre for Fundamental Rights.
