Climate Storytelling - Climate and Justice

The workshop is organised by the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin in collaboration with the Centre for Fundamental Rights

In the last decade, climate litigation has become a popular means of combatting the climate crisis. But what are the opportunities and limits of legal means in the face of a global emergency? In this workshop on 'Climate and Justice', co-organised by the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin and the Centre for Fundamental Rights, Juan Auz, PhD researcher at the Centre will guide you through the options of climate litigation and the power of ordinary people fighting the powerful in courts.

This event is part of a series of workshop on the topic 'Climate Storytelling', hosted by the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin.

Juan Auz is a PhD candidate at the Centre for Fundamental Rights. He is also the Co-Founder of Terra Mater and former Executive Director of Fundación Pachamama, two organisations that defend the rights of indigenous peoples in the Ecuadorian Amazon and protect the remaining ecosystems of indigenous territories. He has worked as a political and legal advisor for national and regional indigenous organisations and is a member of CIVICUS, the World Commission on Environmental Law at the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), as well as the European Society of International Law.
