Careers in digital governance: Shaping digital governance in Latin America

Join us and our Hertie Alumni speakers Jose Díaz (WHO) and Laura Uribe (OECD) as they talk about their career and work experiences in digital governance in Latin America. The event is moderated by Ximena Docarmo (MPP candidate, Hertie School).

Our event assembles a panel of distinguished speakers who not only have a profound understanding of the digital governance landscape developed during their time at Hertie School but are also actively shaping its future. The event offers an exclusive opportunity to gain insights from Latin American professionals with diverse backgrounds in policy analysis, participation and engagement in the digital age, and digital transformation. Join us for an event where diverse voices come together to share experiences and contribute to shaping the future landscape of digital governance.

This event is part of the event series entitled "Career perspectives in digital governance" co-hosted by the Hertie School's Career development team and the Centre for Digital Governance, in collaboration with the Hertie School Latin America Club.

Speakers

  • Laura Uribe is an external consultant for the OECD and contributes to IntouchAI.EU, the international outreach project of the European Commission for trustworthy AI. She holds a Master's in Public Policy from the Hertie School Berlin and a Bachelor's in Government and International Relations from Externado University.  She has worked in Colombia, the United States, France, and Germany, collaborating with organizations such as the National Planning Department of Colombia, the OECD, the Inter-American Development Bank, and the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ). 

  • Jose Díaz Mendoza is a Senior consultant for AI and policy-making at the World Health Organization (WHO). He worked for the OECD’s Observatory on Public Sector Innovation designing and rolling out the “2021/2 Call for Government Innovations”. He holds a Master’s in Public Policy from the Hertie School and a Master in Artificial Intelligence for Government from the Milan Polytechnic (Italy) and Taltech (Estonia). He is affiliated and ambassador of the AI4Gov program – a network of AI policy-makers, and to the German think and do-tank Politics for Tomorrow. He is also the founder of Futuro Público podcast. 

Moderator

  • Ximena Docarmo is a candidate for the Master of Public Policy at the Hertie School and holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. Currently, she works at the Apolitical Foundation. She is the founder of InnovaLab and the author of articles on Artificial Intelligence and Politics published on the Latin American digital platform Diálogo Político. She has worked as a project manager at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung e.V., Peru Office in international relations, democracy and migration. She is the author of the book "Toolbox for strategic political training".
