Career talk: Human rights communication and advocacy

Join us for the second event in the series on human rights career paths, where we invite human rights professionals working in the relevant field to share their view on their career, as well as to provide advice on the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed.

The Centre for Fundamental Rights invites you to a conversation with Corey Barber, communications consultant for human rights organisations and a Hertie School alumna (MPP 2010), and Anna Ramskogler-Witt, Director of the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin, to discuss career paths in the intersection between communication, advocacy and human rights.

This event is open to the Hertie School community. Prior registration required.

Speakers

  • Corey Barber is a communications consultant for human rights organisations. Previously, she worked at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, and has spent over a decade in PR and public affairs. Corey was part of the first cohort of the Recharging Advocacy for Rights in Europe programme for human rights defenders, and received a MPP from the Hertie School in 2010.

  • Anna Ramskogler-Witt is the director of the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin. She is convinced that films and in particular documentaries can be a beautiful and very powerful vehicle to raise awareness and inspire people to act. After studying art history, Anna started her professional career at the Austrian-based film distribution POOOL Filmverleih in 2006, first as educational programme manager, later as impact producer. In 2017, she took the opportunity to work with the renowned European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights, where she was responsible for fundraising and partnerships until 2019 when she became director of the Human Rights Film Festival Berlin.
