Career Bootcamp

The 4-week Career Bootcamp programme is designed to build a job search system that can help you get hired and do what you love. The programme aims to provide you with tools and resources for all stages of your job search in a structured way to avoid feeling overwhelmed. The programme is designed for students and recent graduates who are looking to build their careers by applying for jobs, internships, or the Professional Year.

Sessions will be conducted on Zoom for 120 mins

Outline of Each Session

Week One: Job search strategies & Career Documents

The process of finding a job doesn't need to be overwhelming, with a proactive job search strategy in place you increase your chances of finding a job much quicker during these uncertain times. The aim of this session is to help you create your mission statement, elevator pitch, and job search strategy. To beat the competitive market, it’s crucial to decipher a job description and tailor your CV and cover letter to rise above the hundreds of other job applicants applying for the same role.

What will this session cover?
○ Traditional and non-traditional ways of job search
○ Create your own career statement
○ Craft your 30 seconds elevator pitch
○ Decode job descriptions to create impactful resumes and cover letter
○ Guidelines for resumes and cover letters

Week Two: Linkedin as a Tool & online Networking

LinkedIn is the largest online platform that connects professionals globally. 87% of recruiters regularly use LinkedIn to find their next employee. An engaging LinkedIn profile allows you to create an online professional brand that can help open doors to opportunities and network that could help you land your next fulfilling job

Besides learning all about LinkedIn, in an age when most activities are carried out online, it's crucial to leverage the online community and get ahead of your competition through a well-planned networking strategy.

What will this session cover?
○ All about LinkedIn - what it is and what it is not, as well as what makes it so powerful in your job search
○ A deep dive into every section of your LinkedIn profile
○ The critical steps to update your profile and turn it into a magnet for recruiters.
○ How to expand, engage and build a meaningful network of professionals on LinkedIn and various other online communities

You will be provided with outreach templates that you can use to reach out to professionals online over emails, on LinkedIn, and how to conduct informational interviews.

Week 3: Acing your Interviews

When it comes to landing a job, it's all about your interviewing skills. Qualifications will often land the interview, but executing a successful meeting requires more than just possessing the right skills for the job. Whether your interview skills are rusty, it’s not something you enjoy, or for reasons, you’re unaware why your interviews are not landing you the job, interview coaching can help.

The average length of an interview is ~40 minutes, but some studies have shown that recruiters and hiring managers make their decision within the first two minutes of the interview. What is said in the interview is part of the equation, but your presentation, body language, and other factors can often mean the difference between landing the job of your dreams and missing out. This session is designed to help you answer the common behavioral interview questions with the right techniques that will help build your confidence.

What will this session cover?
○ Techniques to answer common behavioral interview questions
○ Present yourself with confidence during interviews
○ Preparation for a remote job interview.

Week 4: Final Review and Live Sessions

It's time to put all that you've learned into practice. The final session of the Bootcamp is a mix of reviews - resume, cover letter, LinkedIn profile, and mock interviews.

You are required to work on all your career documents and interviewing skills to receive comprehensive and honest feedback in this session. This is your opportunity to receive individualized career support that can help you present yourself confidently by showcasing your learnings, skills, and relevant experiences throughout your job search. The purpose of the live review in a group setup is to learn from each other's performance and questions.

Note: At the end of each session, the participants will be given reflection questions and assignments that won’t take more than 60 mins to complete and needs to be submitted before the following week’s session.
