Ambassador Series: Tunisia

The Hertie International Relations Club presents the Ambassador Series with His Excellency Ambassador Ahmed Chafra (Ambassador of Tunisia to Germany).

We welcome Ambassador Ahmed Chafra to the Hertie School for a discussion on the state of play in Tunisia, to also reflect on the achievements and challenges for Tunisia since the Jasmine revolution in 2011, as well as for relations between Tunisia, Germany, and the greater EU.

His excellence, Ambassador Ahmed Chafra was born in 1970 in Kairouan. In 1992 he received a master's degree in law and a degree in economic and social law from the University of Tunis. He began his diplomatic career in 1994 in the Directorate-General for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tunisia. Thereafter, he held various posts in the embassies of his country in Jakarta and Berlin, as well as in the Foreign Ministry in Tunis. Prior to being appointed Consul General of the Republic of Tunisia in Bonn in September 2015, Ahmed Chafra was in charge of diplomatic coordination with the Tunisian Prime Minister.

This initiative led by the International Relations Club gives Hertie School students the opportunity to engage in an informative dialogue with top level diplomats from diverse countries in an expressly informal setting - without the rigidity created by the presence of media representatives and other third parties. It poses a unique opportunity for students of public policy to gain first-hand experience of the diplomatic profession. This event is part of the 2017-18 edition of the Ambassador Series at the Hertie School.

We look forward to seeing you in the Forum! Refreshments will be provided.
