Join guest speaker and current President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India’s premier think tank Samir Saran and Prof. Shubha Prasad for a Policy & Pizza session discussing the International Order, Foreign Policy and Security Partnerships. Among topical issues on the subject, they will explore the Indo-Pacific strategy and regional security,as well as defense collaborations between India and Germany. As with our ‘Policy and Pizza’ sessions, this is an opportunity to engage directly with practitioners and leaders shaping the world of policy and international relations in a meaningful way. Bring your questions!

The event is public and will be hosted at the Forum of the Hertie School in Berlin. There will be no live stream. Due to limited seating, registration is appreciated.

Free drinks and pizza will be served from 6:00 pm, and the talk will begin at 6:30 pm.

In conversation with

Prof. Shubha Prasad

  • Shubha Kamala Prasad is an Assistant Professor of International Relations at the Hertie School. Her research examines domestic sources of foreign policy, spanning substate conflict to diaspora mobilization. She was a Max Weber Postdoctoral Fellow at the European University Institute (2020-22), Fiesole, Italy. Shubha was awarded her PhD in Political Science in 2020 from the Department of Government, Georgetown University, Washington, DC, USA. She completed her MPhil and MA in International Politics at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. Her prior work experience also includes organizing Track II Dialogues between India and Pakistan.

Samir Saran

  • Samir Saran is the President of the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), India’s premier think tank, headquartered in New Delhi. His research focuses on issues of global governance, climate change and energy policy, technology and media, and India’s foreign policy.

    He also serves as Chair of World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Geopolitics a member of WEF Global Risks Advisory Board. He has served as a Commissioner of The Global Commission on the Stability of Cyberspace. He is a member of the Board of Directors at ORF America. He is also a part of Board of Governors of East West Centre.

    Samir has authored four books, edited important journals and publications and written several academic papers and book chapters. He is featured regularly in Indian and international print and broadcast media. His latest publications include The New World Disorder and The Indian Imperative with Shashi Tharoor and Pax Sinica: Implications for the Indian Dawn with Akhil Deo (who is a HS alum).

    Samir completed his doctoral studies at the Global Sustainability Institute, UK. He holds a Masters degree in Media Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, and a Bachelors in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology, India.
