New partnership offers Vetor Brasil alumni and employees a 25% tuition waiver upon admission.

With the common goal of fostering best practices in policymaking and governance, the Hertie School has partnered with the Brazilian non-profit Vetor Brasil to offer scholarships to Vetor Brasil’s network of alumni and employees admitted to Hertie School master’s programmes.

Students will receive a 25% tuition waiver upon admission to the Master of Public Policy, Master of Data Science for Public Policy, Master of International Affairs or the Executive Master of Public Administration starting this fall. The partnership aims to support those motivated to pursue further education in policymaking and, ultimately, to make a positive impact in the Brazilian public sector.

Vetor Brasil is a non-profit organisation dedicated to making positive and large-scale changes in Brazil by recruiting civic-minded professionals for a one-year traineeship in the public sector. Trainees are assigned to high-impact policy projects at the municipal and state levels throughout Brazil. They join an ever-growing and engaged network of almost 500 alumni.

"Partnering with the Hertie School aligns with Vetor Brasil’s mission to create a network of talented professionals to improve the Brazilian public sector. Our fellows have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in a globally recognised programme, while drawing from their own experiences working for government departments across Brazil,” says Joice Toyota, executive-director of Vetor Brasil. “By interfacing with international policymakers who are transforming their countries, together we can find solutions to the challenges our world faces."

For the Hertie School’s Director of Recruitment and Admissions Benjamin Steffen, the cooperation strengthens the university’s network within Brazil. “Brazilian students are a growing part of the Hertie School community, and we’re proud to offer more opportunities for them to pursue further education abroad,” he says. “This partnership with Vetor Brasil reinforces our university’s commitment to cultivate the next generation of leaders who will shape public policy around the globe.”
