Over two years, students delve into the complexities of global policy while immersed in the dynamic environments of Berlin and Madrid.
As of fall 2024, the Hertie School is offering a new dual degree programme in its Master of International Affairs track. Interested students, both current and prospective, are invited to apply for this unique programme, which provides comprehensive education at IE University in Madrid and the Hertie School in Berlin. After successfully completing the comprehensive two-year curriculum, graduates will receive a master’s degree in international affairs (MIA) from the Hertie School and a master’s degree in international relations (MIR) from IE University.
“We are delighted to launch a new dual degree and strengthen the cooperation with our CIVICA partner IE University,” says Hertie School President Cornelia Woll. “IE School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs has become a major player in international affairs in Europe and globally. Our Berlin-Madrid partnership will equip future decision-makers with the knowledge they need to thrive in their careers, be it on current armed conflicts, a global health crisis, or threats to democracy.”
Studying the international affairs challenges of our times
Created as a response to the evolving demands of the international job market, the dual degree programme prepares students to address critical issues in areas such as international security, human rights, and global governance. It combines academic knowledge with practical skills to devise sound policy proposals. It also includes a mandatory internship of at least six weeks to connect theory and practice.
