Jorge Sánchez Canales wins Best Scientific Presentation award

The Centre for Sustainability PhD candidate was recognised for his presentation at ENERDAY 2024.

On Friday, the 12th of April, Jorge Sánchez Canales presented the paper "Identifying Elasticities in Autocorrelated Time Series Using Causal Graphs: An Application to German Electricity Data" at the 18th International Conference on Energy Economics and Technology, ENERDAY 2024, in Dresden, and was awarded the Best Scientific Presentation. Sánchez Canales presented a study that he has collaborated on with co-authors Silvana Tiedemann, Felix Schur (ETH Zürich), Raffaele Sgarlato, Oliver Ruhnau (Energiewirtschaftliches Institut an der Universität zu Köln), Lion Hirth, and Jonas Peters (ETH Zürich). In their study, the researchers propose a methodology for identifying effects in a time series setting which, when applied to estimate the price-responsiveness of the aggregated electricity demand in Germany, makes it possible to obtain correct estimates and learn about the structure of the demand response.

Sánchez Canales was distinguished among more than 50 other conference speakers. Congratulations, Jorge!
