Hertie School launches AI certificate for German public administration officials

Funded by the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, the programme applies latest research to increasing demands for Germany’s bureaucracy.

While the rapid development of artificial intelligence is keeping large tech companies busy, the public administration is faced with new challenges, too. Be it for digital citizen services or managing complex administrative processes – decision-makers in public authorities and politics are tasked with understanding this new technology and exploiting its potential, but at the same time also minimising its risks. That is why the Hertie School has launched the new certificate programme “Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for Public Administration” for the German public administration. The first cohort of participants will start the one-year part-time training in September. Interested managers from public authorities and agencies are invited to apply by 15 June 2024.
